Introducing Scott and family
Scott Bannerot has a Ph.D. in marine biology and a
100 ton maritime captain's license, and operates as
an independent scientist, charter and delivery captain,
speaker, photojournalist, long-distance sailor, and
adventurer. His wife Wendy and six-year old son Ryan
accompany him on most endeavors.
A long, winding road...
Scott grew up on the move, and was then based in
southern Florida and the Caribbean from 1976
(age 17) through 1994. In February 1995 Scott &
Wendy fulfilled a long-held dream of departing on
an open-ended circumnavigation on their 41-foot
sloop Elan. Ryan was born in 1999, in Auckland,
New Zealand, and now Australia is home base.
Highlights
Scott published a number of scientific papers and
other works primarily between 1979 and 1990, and
continues to write numerous magazine articles about
everything from marine biology and fishing to high
seas adventure. He and Wendy wrote The Cruiser's
Handbook of Fishing (copyright 2000, 2004,
International Marine, a division of McGraw-Hill).
